A Brit Celebrates German Culture

How popular is Germany these days?

Today the BBC World Service reported that Germany has once again been voted the most popular country in its latest ‘mainly positive influence’ poll.

This came as a bit of a surprise to me, as I recently read about a serious political spat between the Hungarian and German governments and I had heard rumour that  certain German TV commentators were blaming the dismal results for the strong German Eurovision entry on the current eurozone problems.

Whatever. I am celebrating the good things about German culture with a new programme of songs by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill. This programme is available immediately, and is intended as the forerunner of a production of ‘The Seven Deadly Sins‘ that I hope to make a reality next year.
