Project Hildegard #4

o viridissima virga 1 – singing into a flower pot

For this first version of ‘o greenest branch,’ I have created a different kind of recording studio (see picture below). Rather an appropriate solution, given the words. With thanks to Francis, for encouraging me to improve the quality of my audio, and to Anne for her idea of singing into an acoustic.

O greenest branch, hail, sprung forth in the wind from the prayers of the saints. The time has come that your sprays have blossomed, hail, hail to you, because the heat of the sun has emanated from you like the aroma of balm. For the beautiful flower sprung from you, which gave all dry perfumes their aroma. And they have appeared anew in their full freshness. Whence the skies brought dew to the pasture, and all the earth was made joyful because her flesh brought forth corn, and because the birds of the sky built their nests in her. Then there was food for man and a great rejoicing of guests, whence, O sweet Virgin, no joy is lacking in you. Eve rejected all these things. Now let there be praise to the Highest.
