What a great experience it was! La Noeva recently travelled to the Lebanon to give two concerts based on the songs written for pilgrims on their way to Montserrat and contained in the 14th century manuscript, the Llibre Vermell. Our first concert took place in the Assembly Hall of the American University of Beirut as part of the Sol Organ Festival, and the second was in the mountains, at the Hammana Artist House.
In Beirut, we had the privilege to be joined by the French organist Emmanuel Hocdé, who improvised on themes from the Llibre Vermell in alternation with our interpretations. Many thanks to our hosts, the Notre Dame University of Beirut and the team at the HAH for the very warm welcome they gave us. It was a pleasure to visit this extraordinary country, with its rich history and geographic contrasts. If the trip was all too short, it was an unforgettable experience!
