This programme brings together some of Kurt Weill’s most beautiful and well-known works from across his musical career, such as Mack the Knife, written with Bertolt Brecht for The Threepenny Opera (Der Dreigroschenoper), and Youkali, written during his exile in Paris, as well as numbers from some of his Broadway musicals from the 1940s. Across the different periods of his life, his songs remain quite unique: beautiful melodies and lyrics that mix humour and biting satire in an authentic and instantly recognizable style.
